1. Reading Section

My name is Mia, and I want to tell you about my first concert. I was fourteen years old, and my favorite singer was Lila Rose. When my sister got two tickets for her birthday, I was so happy!

On the day of the concert, I woke up early. I couldn’t eat breakfast because I felt too excited. My sister and I put on our best clothes and left the house at five o’clock.

We took the train to the stadium. There were hundreds of people outside, and everyone sang Lila Rose’s songs together. We found our seats and waited for the show to begin.

At eight o’clock, the lights went dark, and the music started. Lila Rose ran onto the stage, and the crowd stood up and screamed. She sang all my favorite songs, and I danced with my sister the whole time.

In the middle of the show, something amazing happened. Lila Rose came to the front of the stage, near where we sat. She saw my sister’s sign, which said “We love you!” Lila Rose smiled and threw a flower to us. My sister caught it!

After the concert, we met a nice family outside the stadium. They gave us a ride to the train station because we missed the last bus. We talked about the concert the whole way home.

I got home very late that night, but I didn’t feel tired at all. I thought about the concert until I finally fell asleep. That night was the best night of my life, and I will never forget it.

Simple Past + Irregular Verbs

We use the simple past tense to talk about actions that finished in the past. Regular verbs add -ed (walk → walked), but many common verbs are irregular: they change in a special way that we must learn by heart.

Quick Tip: For the negative form of irregular verbs, use didn’t + the base form, not the past form: “I didn’t feel tired,” not “I didn’t felt tired.” Only the main verb changes for the simple past — didn’t already shows us it’s the past.
